On 28 January 2026 GMT+7, foreign news agencies reported that the Board of Peace, a peace organization initiated by former U.S. President Donald Trump, officially welcomed Cambodia as a founding member, issuing a statement via the X platform.
Previously, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet decided that Cambodia would join the Board of Peace following discussions with U.S. Navy Admiral Samuel Paparo, Commander of the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, after an invitation from President Donald Trump.
Prime Minister Hun Manet stated that joining the Board of Peace reflects Cambodia's commitment to supporting international peace, aligning with Cambodia's foreign policy that emphasizes peacebuilding and participation in United Nations peacekeeping missions.
Cambodia will hold the status of founding member for three years without financial obligations, while the $1 billion contribution will apply only in cases of long-term or permanent membership.
