Sydney, New South Wales, has begun the process of sending ballots cast by Thai voters. The first batch of ballots was loaded onto a plane bound for Thailand, under strict security measures at every stage.
Mr. Naruchai Ninnat, Consul-General in Sydney, personally oversaw the handover of bags containing overseas ballots to ensure that the transport of these important documents was secure, transparent, and verifiable before handing them over to the airline for delivery to the Election Commission of Thailand.
This operation reflects the Consulate-General's commitment to safeguarding the overseas ballots — the voices of Thai citizens abroad — ensuring they are returned to Thailand intact, secure, and without loss, so that Thais in Australia can be confident their votes are properly en route and will be handled through appropriate procedures.
Initially, the Consulate plans to send three batches of ballots, all to arrive in Thailand before 5 Feb as mandated by the Election Commission. This allows sufficient time for distribution to each electoral district by 8 Feb. However, if ballots are delayed due to postal issues, all will still be sent back, though possibly not within the specified timeframe.
