US prosecutors have indicated that no additional charges will be filed in cases related to Jeffrey Epstein after the government released over 3 million new documents last weekend.
On 1 Feb 2026 GMT+7, the US Deputy Attorney General signaled that authorities will not file any new charges related to Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted sex offender, following the release of over 3 million confidential documents implicating many famous and influential people.
"Our previous review concluded there was no evidence of that nature (to support additional charges), and we continue to stand by that based on what we have seen and what has been released from Epstein's files," Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche said on CNN's "State of the Union."
The more than 3 million documents uploaded online last weekend include emails, photos, video clips, and references to many powerful individuals such as President Donald Trump, Elon Musk, Bill Gates, and former Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
"This review is now complete," Blanche added in an interview on ABC's "This Week," noting only a small number of documents remain under judicial review.
Currently, Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein's former girlfriend, is the only person charged in connection with his crimes; she was convicted of trafficking underage girls for Epstein and is serving a 20-year prison sentence.
Survivors of Epstein's abuse stated that alleged other abusers "remain hidden and protected," despite the recent document disclosures.
Blanche, who formerly served as Trump's personal attorney, denied allegations of content being screened to protect the president, while Trump said the latest document release helped clear his name.
"I haven’t looked at it myself, but several key people told me it not only confirms my innocence but contradicts what those people expected—mainly the left," Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One Saturday night.
The scandal surrounding Jeffrey Epstein has long haunted Trump because he was part of the same social circles as the disgraced financier in Florida and New York, and the president fought for months to block the release of this massive document trove.
Meanwhile, Trump's right-wing base has always believed Epstein managed a global elite sex trafficking network and that the US government holds a "client list" of Epstein’s customers, but officials have confirmed such a list does not exist.
Blanche said he does not expect the "Epstein files" to quell public curiosity or stop various conspiracy theories.
