Boeing confirmed that Cambodia Airways ordered its first batch of 10 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft at the Singapore Airshow, along with a commitment to purchase another 10 planes. This represents the largest aircraft purchase deal for the new airline.
On 5 February 2026, Boeing, the major U.S. aircraft manufacturer, confirmed that Cambodia Airways, Cambodia’s national airline, has ordered 20 Boeing 737-8 MAX planes. The initial contract for the first batch of 10 was signed on 3 February, with a promise to buy an additional 10.
Boeing stated in a press release at the Singapore Airshow that Cambodia Airways finalized this order in December 2025. It is the largest aircraft procurement in the airline's history and their first order from Boeing.
Brad McMullen, Boeing’s Senior Vice President of Commercial Airplane Sales and Marketing, said Boeing welcomes Cambodia Airways as a new 737 MAX customer and is ready to support the growth of Cambodia’s aviation industry and the wider Asian region.
Cambodia Airways said that adding the 737 MAX to its fleet will both replace older aircraft and expand its network to meet rising travel demand in Asia. The airline plans to use this model on high-demand routes. This order is also part of Cambodia's government trade negotiations to reduce retaliatory tariffs from the U.S., which had been as high as 49%, then reduced to 36%, and most recently down to 19%.
The Boeing 737 MAX 8 can carry up to 178 passengers, has a range of about 6,480 kilometers, and offers approximately 20% fuel savings and greenhouse gas emission reductions compared to previous models. Currently, Cambodia Airways operates a fleet of six aircraft serving domestic routes and international destinations including Vietnam, India, Thailand, China, Japan, and Hong Kong.
Previously, on 8 September, Cambodia Airways signed a memorandum of understanding with China's COMAC to purchase 20 C919 passenger jets, confirming orders for 10 of them. The C919 seats between 78 and 97 passengers and has a maximum range of about 2,225 to 3,700 kilometers.
