Urgent! U.S. Orders Citizens to Evacuate Iran Citing Untrustworthy Security Situation

The United States has warned American citizens to leave Iran immediately amid escalating security tensions. The Iranian government has closed several roads, disrupted public transportation, and cut internet and telephone signals throughout the country.

The website of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran has issued a warning for American citizens to leave Iran immediately if possible, due to concerns over the ongoing tense situation. It noted that several airlines continue to limit or cancel flights into and out of Iran, sometimes abruptly without prior notice, resulting in highly uncertain travel conditions.

U.S. authorities advise American citizens to prepare alternative communication plans in case internet and phone networks are cut off. They also recommend that, if deemed safe, travelers consider exiting Iran overland to Armenia or Turkey instead of relying on air travel.

The warning also emphasizes the risks facing U.S. citizens holding dual Iranian-American nationality, stating that the Iranian government does not recognize dual citizenship and treats such individuals solely as Iranian citizens. This puts them at high risk of interrogation, detention, or arrest, as simply showing a U.S. passport or having ties to the United States may lead to detention.

Meanwhile, the U.S. government stresses that it cannot guarantee the safety of citizens choosing to leave Iran at this time and urges people to carefully assess the risks involved.

For those unable to leave the country, authorities recommend avoiding gatherings, staying in safe locations, ensuring sufficient food, water, medicine, and essentials, closely monitoring local news, and maintaining contact with family and close associates as much as possible.
