Israel attacked multiple sites in the Gaza Strip on Sunday, claiming the targets were armed groups. However, health authorities said shells struck tents of displaced persons, resulting in 11 fatalities.
On Sunday, 15 Feb 2026, Palestinian civil defense and health officials reported that Israel struck several areas in the Gaza Strip that morning, causing 11 Palestinian deaths and injuring many others.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated they targeted militants in response to ceasefire violations by Hamas and killed armed fighters emerging from underground tunnels in Gaza areas under Israeli military control.
However, the Palestinian Red Crescent reported that Israeli attacks struck tents housing displaced persons in northern Gaza, killing at least six people. Another attack in southern Gaza caused five more deaths.
Since the ceasefire agreement took effect on 10 October last year, both Israel and Hamas have accused each other of daily ceasefire violations, with at least 600 deaths reported in Gaza.
The recent attacks occurred as preparations were underway to implement the second phase of the ceasefire agreement, mediated by the United States.
In January, U.S. President Donald Trump announced the formation of a new body called the “Board of Peace,” mandated by the United Nations Security Council to establish an international force responsible for securing the Gaza border area and overseeing Hamas disarmament.
The board, scheduled to hold its first meeting in Washington on 19 Feb, will oversee the formation of a new Palestinian government composed of Gaza-based experts and coordinate post-war reconstruction efforts.
