
A shooting occurred at an ice hockey rink in Rhode Island, USA, on Monday afternoon local time, resulting in three deaths, including the suspected shooter, and three others critically injured.
The latest shooting took place at the Dennis M. Lynch Arena in Pawtucket, just a few miles from Providence, the state's capital. A youth hockey game was scheduled at the time.
Tina Goncalves, Pawtucket's police chief, told reporters that two people died at the scene and the suspect also died, bringing the death toll to three. Three others were taken to hospital in critical condition.
Officials believe the shooting was targeted and sparked by a family dispute. However, detailed information about the relationships involved remains under investigation.
Outside the arena, the atmosphere was somber. Families of players and high school hockey athletes in their uniforms embraced and wept before boarding buses to leave, under heavy security presence.
Police are currently gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses to determine the facts of this tragic event that has deeply affected the local community.
