Trump Warns Iran to Think Carefully Before Nuclear Talks, Warns of Consequences if Deal Fails

U.S. President Donald Trump has sent a warning to Iran to think carefully before the talks in Geneva this Tuesday, stating that if the negotiations fail, Iran must be ready to face the resulting consequences.

President Donald Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One that he will be indirectly involved in the upcoming U.S.-Iran talks on Tehran’s nuclear program, scheduled to begin in Geneva on Tuesday. He warned that Iran likely does not want to face the consequences if an agreement cannot be reached.

The atmosphere before the talks is tense after the U.S. decided to deploy a second aircraft carrier to the Middle East. U.S. officials told Reuters that the military is preparing for the possibility of continuing military operations if the negotiations do not succeed.

Previously, U.S.-Iran nuclear talks stalled over Washington’s demand that Iran halt its domestic uranium enrichment, which the U.S. views as a pathway to developing nuclear weapons. Tehran has consistently rejected this demand.

On the same day, Iran’s civil defense organization conducted chemical defense drills in the Pars Energy Special Economic Zone in the southern part of the country to enhance preparedness for emergencies that could occur at this vital national energy center, amid increasing tensions.
