
Taiwanese President Lai Ching-te encountered an unexpected event during Lunar New Year celebrations when he was accidentally splashed with vomit while distributing red envelopes to people inside a temple.

While the president was standing on stage beside the temple head delivering blessings to the public, the temple head suddenly felt dizzy and vomited unexpectedly, some of which splashed onto the Taiwanese leader's clothing.
Video footage from attendees showed the moment the atmosphere on stage briefly froze. Security personnel and staff quickly assisted the temple head, while Lai Ching-te remained calm and showed no displeasure before the situation was promptly managed.
Reports stated that the temple head became suddenly unwell due to fatigue and received immediate first aid. The president was unharmed and was able to continue his scheduled duties.
