North Korean leader Kim Jong Un demonstrated driving a multiple rocket launcher vehicle and announced plans to advance military development ahead of the 9th Workers' Party Congress.
On 19 Feb 2026 GMT+7, North Korea's Korean Central News Agency reported Thursday morning that on Wednesday, Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un participated in a display of multiple rocket launcher systems held outside the venue preparing for the 9th Workers' Party Congress.
During the ceremony, Kim Jong Un demonstrated driving a multiple rocket launcher vehicle and delivered a speech stating that the 9th Workers' Party Congress will set the "next phase plans and goals for strengthening self-reliant national defense capabilities."
The event was held outside the 25 April Culture Center in Pyongyang, the venue for the last two Workers' Party Congresses. Although the official date for the latest congress has not been announced, state media released images showing delegates arriving in Pyongyang this week and participating in various activities, including the rocket launcher display.
