King Charles III issued a statement acknowledging the arrest of former Prince Andrew, his brother, stressing that the legal process must proceed according to due procedures.
On Thursday, 19 Feb 2026 GMT+7, King Charles III of the British royal family released a statement following the arrest of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, his brother, on charges of misconduct in office. The King expressed deep concern but emphasized that "the legal process must follow its due course."
"I have received news concerning Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and allegations of misconduct in public office with great concern. What follows now is a full, fair, and appropriate process, which will be properly examined by the relevant authorities."
"As I have previously stated, those officials will receive our full support and cooperation with sincerity. I want to make clear that the legal process must follow its due course."
"While this process is ongoing, it is not appropriate for me to comment further on this matter. In the meantime, my family and I will continue to serve and fulfill our duties to all of you."
Meanwhile, Prince William, the Prince of Wales, and Catherine, Princess of Wales, have expressed their strong support for King Charles III's statement.
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly Prince Andrew, was arrested at his residence within Sandringham Estate in Norfolk on suspicion of misconduct in public office, following the U.S. release of documents related to the case of the late financier Jeffrey Epstein, who was convicted of sexual abuse charges.
One piece of evidence included an email indicating that Andrew disclosed confidential information from his role as a trade envoy during 2010-2011 to Jeffrey Epstein.
