Trump Declares the World Will Know Within 10 Days if a Deal with Iran Can Be Reached

U.S. President Donald Trump declared that the world will know within 10 days whether the U.S. can reach a deal with Iran amid threats of military force.

Foreign news agencies reported that on 9 Feb 2026, at the first Peace Committee meeting in Washington D.C., President Donald Trump said the world would find out within about 10 days whether the U.S. can finalize a nuclear deal with Iran or will have to resort to military measures.

Trump stated, “We still have quite a bit of work to do” to reach an agreement with the Islamic Republic on its nuclear program, adding, “We may need to escalate our actions further.”

The U.S. president noted that his special representatives, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, who is also his son-in-law, have had several “very good” meetings with Iran, emphasizing, “Over the years, it has proven difficult to make a meaningful agreement with Iran, but we must achieve a meaningful deal, or else bad things will happen.”

In recent days, the U.S. has rapidly increased its military presence in the Middle East, while reports indicate progress in talks between American and Iranian representatives in Switzerland.

These negotiations follow multiple threats from Donald Trump to use military force against Iran, addressing Tehran’s crackdown on protesters and its nuclear activities. The U.S. has deployed a naval fleet to the Persian Gulf region to pressure Iran into an agreement.

Legislators from the Democratic Party and some Republicans have opposed President Trump taking military action against Iran without prior Congressional approval, similar to the U.S. operation to detain Nicolás Maduro in Venezuela’s capital earlier in January.

One day earlier, White House spokesperson Caroline Liewitt warned that it would be much wiser for Iran to reach an agreement with the U.S., adding that Trump still hopes to resolve Tehran’s nuclear program issue through diplomatic means.
