A United Nations spokesperson confirmed working with Trump's Board of Peace to advance aid to Gaza after the US announced $7 billion in assistance, while reconstruction costs are estimated to exceed 2.5 trillion baht.
On 19 Feb 2026 GMT+7, Stéphane Dujarric, the United Nations spokesperson, stated that the UN is ready to collaborate with the “Board of Peace,” an initiative by US President Donald Trump, to support aid and reconstruction efforts in the Gaza Strip.
The UN's move follows Trump's convening of the inaugural meeting of the Board of Peace amid efforts to gain broad support for his key foreign policy initiative and to advance a still-fragile ceasefire agreement in Gaza.
However, the UN noted that Trump's plan is extensive, ranging from concepts to manage and rebuild Gaza as a modern metropolis to challenging the Security Council's role in resolving international conflicts. Observers suggest the ambitions may face practical limitations on the ground, as progress toward basic ceasefire goals remains limited.
Meanwhile, many Palestinians, including civilians, continue to die almost daily from attacks. Israel states these are operations targeting armed groups threatening or attacking its forces. Hamas has yet to disarm, and the Palestinian committee preparing to replace Hamas remains stalled in Egypt.
