Quentin Griffiths, co-founder of the major online fashion brand Asos, died after falling from a high-rise building in Pattaya. Police revealed the room was locked from the inside with no signs of break-in or forced entry.
On 20 February 2026, BBC News reported that Quentin Griffiths, co-founder of the globally renowned online fashion brand Asos, died after falling from a tall building in Pattaya, Chonburi Province, on 9 February.
Officials stated that the deceased held a United Kingdom passport and was found outside a luxury hotel where he lived long-term in a suite on the 17th floor. Investigators told BBC that at the time of the incident, Griffiths was alone; the room was locked from inside with no signs of tampering or intrusion. The autopsy found no evidence indicating criminal activity.
Pattaya police further disclosed that the deceased had two ongoing legal cases, which may have caused stress. Additionally, he had separated from his second wife, a Thai national, and reports indicate ongoing legal disputes related to their joint business. Authorities are currently finalizing the official investigation report.
Most recently, a spokesperson from the United Kingdom's Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office stated that officials are providing support to the family of the British citizen and coordinating with local authorities in Thailand.
Reports indicate that Griffiths co-founded ASOS in London in 2000 with Nick Robertson, Andrew Regan, and Deborah Thorpe, before resigning from the company five years later, while retaining a significant shareholding. The ASOS brand name originally stood for "As Seen On Screen," reflecting its early focus on clothing inspired by movie and TV celebrity fashion. It later expanded into a large online fashion platform selling various brands, including its own. At one point, the company was valued at over £6 billion, approximately 270 billion baht.
