Secret Service agents fatally shot a man carrying a shotgun and a gasoline canister who intruded into President Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort area. No one else was injured in the incident.
On Sunday, 22 Feb 2026 GMT+7, the U.S. Secret Service reported fatally shooting a man in his 20s who attempted to break into President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida.
Rick Bradshaw, Sheriff of Palm Beach County, told reporters that security personnel encountered a white man carrying a gasoline can and a shotgun. Deputies confronted the man after he trespassed into the innermost restricted area at 1:30 a.m. local time on Sunday.
Officials ordered the man to drop his weapons. He complied by putting down the gasoline can but then raised the shotgun in a firing position. At that moment, officers decided to shoot to "neutralize the threat."
Bradshaw also stated that no officers were injured in the incident, while President Trump was staying in Washington, D.C.
Authorities have not disclosed the identity or other details of the suspect. It remains unclear how many shots were fired by officers or whether the suspect's gun was loaded.
