A bus plunged more than 200 meters into a ravine in Nepal, killing 19 people, including a British tourist, and injuring dozens more.

On Monday, 23 Feb 2026, Nepalese police reported that a bus slipped off a mountain road and fell over 200 meters down to the ground near the Trishuli River bank in Dhading district during the early morning hours.

The bus was traveling from the tourist city of Pokhara to Kathmandu when the accident occurred, resulting in at least 19 deaths, including one British tourist.

“Out of 44 passengers, 19 died and 25 are currently receiving medical treatment,” senior local police officer Prakas Thahal told AFP, confirming that a British citizen was among the deceased.

He also said one Chinese and one New Zealander were injured but did not provide further details.

Mohan Prasat Nepane, information officer of the local administration office, said rescue operations concluded early Monday, and all injured are under medical care.
