Peter Mandelson, former UK minister, was arrested on misconduct charges after Jeffrey Epstein's court documents accused him of sharing sensitive information with the financier.
International news agencies reported that Lord Peter Mandelson, former UK minister and European Trade Commissioner, was arrested at his home in Camden, north London, at around 16:30 local time on Monday, 23 Feb 2026 GMT+7.
The Metropolitan Police issued a statement saying a 72-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office and taken to a London police station for questioning, without naming Lord Peter Mandelson specifically.
However, reports stated that witnesses saw Lord Mandelson being escorted by plainclothes officers into an unmarked police vehicle.
The police statement also said the arrest followed searches conducted at residences in Wiltshire and Camden.
Jeffrey Epstein's court files, released by the U.S. government, allege that Lord Mandelson shared government information affecting market movements with Epstein while serving as a minister.
In recent weeks, Lord Mandelson has not publicly commented on the "Epstein files" case but has consistently maintained that he committed no criminal acts and was not motivated by financial gain.
