IKEA Orangutan Plush Sells Out Amid Viral Punch-kun Monkey Craze Prices Surge on eBay

The adorable viral sensation "Punch-kun," an orphaned monkey from a Japanese zoo, has driven IKEA orangutan plush sales to exceed stock levels, selling out in many areas and being resold at prices several times higher than usual.

Punch-kun, a Japanese snow monkey from Ishikawa Zoo in Japan, has become a social media favorite after a clip showed him dragging his favorite orangutan plush around the enclosure and hugging it whenever bullied by larger monkeys.

Following the viral spread of the clip, IKEA posted a photo of the monkey hugging the plush with the message, "We are all now part of Punch's family," which further boosted sales rapidly.

The plush in question is from the Djungelskog line for children, originally priced at 14.99 Canadian dollars, approximately 399 baht. Recently, it has sold out online in many countries, including Thailand.

After the product became unavailable through official channels, savvy sellers listed the plush on eBay for prices up to 100 dollars, with some reaching 301 dollars, reflecting the rapidly growing popularity that turned a simple product into a highly sought-after item within days.
