On 27 Feb 2026 GMT+7, the Cambodian Royal Palace issued an official statement declaring that Samdech Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, and Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk left Phnom Penh to travel to Beijing, People's Republic of China, for their scheduled health examination.
The statement further noted that while the King is abroad, Samdech Hun Sen, President of the Senate, will serve as acting head of state in accordance with the constitutional provisions.
The King and Queen Mother customarily travel to China twice a year for health checkups. Each time, they receive a highly respectful welcome from senior Chinese leaders. This visit follows the usual schedule, and no details regarding the King's health have been disclosed.
