The leaders of the UK, France, and Germany issued a joint statement condemning Iran's attacks on various countries in the Middle East as retaliation for US and Israeli strikes, while calling on Iran to seek a resolution through negotiations.
On 28 Feb 2026 GMT+7, UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer issued a joint statement with French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz condemning Iran for responding to US and Israeli attacks by launching missile strikes against multiple neighboring countries in the Middle East.
“France, Germany, and the United Kingdom have consistently urged the Iranian government to halt its nuclear and guided missile programs, refrain from actions that destabilize the region and our territories, and cease the horrific violence and repression against its own people,” the statement said.
“We are not involved in these attacks, but we maintain close contact with international allies including the United States, Israel, and regional partners. We reaffirm our commitment to regional stability and the protection of civilian lives.”
“We strongly condemn Iran's attacks on various countries in the region. Iran must refrain from indiscriminate military attacks. We call on Iranian leaders to seek solutions through dialogue, and ultimately, the Iranian people must be allowed to determine their own future.”
