
Israel has begun a second wave of attacks on Iran, focusing on missile launch bases and air defense systems. Meanwhile, Iran's Red Crescent agency revealed that the attacks throughout the day have resulted in over 200 deaths.
On the night of Saturday, 28 Feb 2026 local time, the Israeli military announced they had started the second wave of attacks on Iran, targeting missile launch bases and air defense systems in central Iran, amid renewed explosions heard in Tehran.
AFP reported that its correspondents heard "continuous new explosions" in the capital. Earlier, Iran's Fars News Agency stated that two residential areas in Bushehr, southern Iran, which hosts a nuclear power plant, were also targeted by Israeli attacks.
The Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), Iran’s main state media, also reported new explosion sounds in Tehran.
Meanwhile, Mojtaba Kaledi, spokesperson for the Iranian Red Crescent Council, revealed that Israeli attacks have affected 24 out of 31 provinces nationwide, causing at least 201 deaths and injuring 747 people.
Israel’s national emergency service, Magen David Adom (MDA), stated that Israel has treated 89 people with minor injuries amid ongoing retaliatory attacks between Iran and Israel.
Earlier, during the first wave on Saturday morning, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) issued a statement saying they targeted locations in Tehran where senior political and security figures were gathered.
