Israel revealed it deployed over 200 aircraft to strike more than 500 targets in Iran, marking the largest operation in the history of the Israeli Air Force.
The Israeli military announced on Saturday, 28 Feb 2026, that they dropped hundreds of bombs on about 500 targets as part of a large-scale coordinated strike across Iran on the morning of the same day.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated the targets included air defense systems and guided missile launch bases in central and western Iran.
The IDF also said the military used approximately 200 fighter jets in this coordinated attack, calling it the "largest military air operation" in the history of the Israeli Air Force.
The military added that striking these defense systems allowed Israel to "expand" its capability to control Iranian airspace and weakened Tehran's ability to launch guided missiles at Israel.
