Iran Launches New Wave of Attacks Across the Middle East, Explosions Rock Several Major Cities

Tensions in the Middle East have intensified after Iran launched a new wave of attacks, causing loud explosions across the region, especially in several capital cities and economic centers.

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced it has launched its sixth wave of missile and drone attacks targeting Israel and U.S. bases in the region. This latest assault comes amid escalating conflicts following previous military retaliations among various parties in the area.

The Israeli military reported detecting missiles fired from Iran heading towards Israel on Sunday morning, with air defense systems immediately activated to respond.

Air raid sirens sounded throughout central and southern parts of Israel, reflecting the ongoing high level of tension.

In Dubai, United Arab Emirates, CNN's local team reported hearing at least three explosions around 08:15 local time.

Authorities stated that debris from intercepted aerial targets over the business district caused a fire at the city's main commercial port, Jebel Ali, with thick smoke visible rising from the port area.

This incident underscores the risk that logistics and energy infrastructure in the Arabian Gulf could become targets amid the escalating conflict.

In Doha, Qatar, CNN's local team reported hearing multiple explosions around 07:30 local time, although there were no immediate official reports of damage.

Meanwhile, Bahrain's Ministry of Interior posted on the X platform that nationwide sirens sounded on Sunday morning, urging citizens to remain calm and seek the nearest safe shelter.

In Iraq, CNN-verified photos showed thick black smoke rising from a fire near Erbil airport, while Iran's Fars News Agency reported hearing heavy explosions in the city on Sunday morning.

This new wave of attacks highlights the risk that the conflict between Iran, Israel, and the United States could expand across the Middle East, affecting not only the main battlefronts but also Gulf countries that are global centers for economy, aviation, and energy.

Analysts warn that if retaliations continue, key infrastructure such as airports, ports, and foreign military bases may increasingly become targets, potentially impacting global energy security and the world economy broadly.
