Senior Iranian officials have clearly declared "no U.S. warships will be permitted to enter the Persian Gulf," intensifying tensions in the Middle East.
Mohsen Rezaee, former top commander of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and currently a senior Iranian official, stated on Sunday that no U.S. warship would be allowed to enter the Persian Gulf under any circumstances.
This statement was published through a post on Telegram by Fars News Agency, Iran’s state news outlet.
Earlier, the U.S. Navy had mobilized significant naval forces in the region, with U.S. President Donald Trump describing the deployment as a large battle fleet prior to the airstrikes on Iran last Saturday.
Before the strikes, some U.S. warships were reported to be stationed in the Persian Gulf, while others were in the Arabian Sea. However, the exact locations of the U.S. fleet on Sunday remain undisclosed.
Meanwhile, U.S. Central Command released video footage from the start of the airstrike operation, showing U.S. warships firing Tomahawk missiles at targets in Iran and fighter jets taking off from an aircraft carrier.
Iran’s firm stance highlights the risk that the Persian Gulf, a vital global oil shipping route, could become a direct confrontation zone between Iran and the United States, potentially impacting global energy stability and security.
