Two shootings occurred at bars in the United States, one in Texas where the shooter wore a shirt with religious references. Police are urgently investigating possible terrorism links. In the other incident in Ohio, it is still unclear whether it is connected to anger over the U.S. attack on Iran.
On 2 March 2026, foreign news agencies reported a shooting outside “Bufford’s” beer garden in the entertainment district of Austin, Texas, at approximately 2:00 a.m. local time on Sunday. The incident resulted in 3 deaths, including the suspect, and 14 injuries, 3 of which were critical.
Police disclosed that patrol officers in the East Sixth Street area responded to reports of a man shooting at people near West Sixth Street. Upon arrival, they encountered the suspect armed with a firearm, who exchanged gunfire with officers and was killed at the scene. The assailant had driven a large SUV, turned on hazard lights, lowered the window, and fired a handgun at people seated in the outdoor area. He then parked, retrieved a rifle, and walked back toward the bar before being confronted and fatally shot by three officers.
Officers searched the vehicle and found no explosives. The FBI reported that the suspect was wearing a shirt emblazoned with the phrase "Property of Allah" and that there were indications possibly linking the incident to terrorism, though the investigation is still in its early stages and details have not been disclosed.
On the same day, another shooting occurred in Cincinnati, Ohio, on Kellogg Avenue. Police and firefighters responded after reports of multiple injured persons. Initial accounts mentioned 13 victims, but officials later confirmed 9 people were injured, all with non-life-threatening wounds. They were transported to hospitals for treatment.
Cincinnati police are investigating the scene and working to determine the motive behind the shooting. Traffic in the area has been closed in all directions during the ongoing investigation.
