Fourth U.S. Soldier Dies Military Chief Warns of More Casualties

A fourth American soldier has died after sustaining severe injuries from an Iranian attack, while the chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff warned that more casualties are expected because the war will not end in a single day.

On 2 Mar 2026 GMT+7, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) posted on the X platform that a fourth American soldier had died after being wounded during an Iranian attack in Kuwait last Saturday, the same incident that previously killed three U.S. soldiers.

"At 07:30 Eastern U.S. time on 2 Mar, a total of four U.S. military personnel have died in the line of duty," CENTCOM stated. "The fourth soldier, who was severely wounded during the first wave of the Iranian attack, ultimately succumbed to their injuries."

CENTCOM also stated in the post that the names of the deceased will not be released until 24 hours after their next of kin have been informed.

General Dan Kinne, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said the U.S. war against Iran will not be a "one-time operation completed overnight," adding that preparations should be made for possible additional U.S. casualties.

"This is not a one-off operation that can be completed in a single night," General Kinne said at the Pentagon. "The military objectives assigned to Central Command and joint forces require time to achieve, and in some cases, will be difficult and demanding work."

"We anticipate further losses and will continue to do our utmost to minimize U.S. casualties," General Kinne added.
