The US military revealed that they have attacked over 1,250 targets in Iran within 48 hours since the operation began, while Israel estimates that thousands of Iranian soldiers have been killed in action.
On 2 Mar 2026 GMT+7, the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) released a briefing document providing further details about the "Epic Fury" operation against Iran, which started the previous Saturday.
The report states that during the first 48 hours of the operation, US forces conducted "strikes to dismantle the security mechanisms of the Iranian regime" with a focus on "locations posing an immediate threat."
According to CENTCOM, Epic Fury began at 01:15 Eastern Time (ET) on 28 February, and within the first 48 hours more than 1,250 targets were struck.
US military assets used included B-1 bombers, F-16 fighter jets, nuclear-powered aircraft carriers, and guided missile destroyers, along with other unspecified weaponry not detailed in the report.
The US strikes targeted Iranian naval vessels and submarines, integrated air defense systems, anti-ship missile launch bases, the joint command of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and the IRGC Air Force command.
Separately, Israeli officials claimed that Israel estimates over 1,500 members of the IRGC have been killed since the US and Israel jointly began attacks on Iran early Saturday morning.
However, Iran's Red Crescent Society reported on Monday morning that the attacks have resulted in 555 deaths so far.
