US Embassy Warns of Imminent Drone and Missile Attacks in Saudi City

The US Embassy has issued a warning that drone and missile attacks could occur at any time in a city in eastern Saudi Arabia, urging citizens to take shelter indoors and avoid traveling to the embassy.

On 3 Mar 2026 GMT+7, the US Embassy issued a security alert via X platform, warning of an imminent risk of missile and unmanned aerial vehicle (drone) attacks in Dhahran, eastern Saudi Arabia, and advised US citizens in Saudi Arabia to avoid traveling to the embassy and to seek shelter immediately.

Additionally, the embassy urged the public: "Do not leave your residence. The US Consulate in Dhahran asks American citizens in the area to shelter in place, review safety plans in case of attack, and remain on high alert for potential further attacks. US consulate staff are also sheltering on-site."

This warning follows an attack on the US Embassy in Saudi Arabia (in Riyadh) by two drones believed to be Iranian, with two more drones crashing on or near the embassy grounds, prompting the US to close the embassy.

Furthermore, the US Embassy in Kuwait announced a closure until further notice after Kuwait was heavily attacked by Iran. The US State Department ordered government personnel not involved in emergency missions to leave Kuwait immediately.

Meanwhile, the US Embassy in Oman issued a security alert instructing embassy staff to shelter in place and advised Americans in Oman to stay in safe locations, prepare basic necessities including food, water, and medicine, closely follow local news, and maintain communication with family and friends.
