The White House spokesperson confirmed four main targets in the U.S. strikes against Iran, excluding regime change, while not denying that the U.S. may have attacked an all-girls primary school, causing numerous child fatalities.
On 4 Mar 2026 GMT+7, White House spokesperson Caroline Leavitt held a press conference revealing various details about the U.S. military operations against Iran. She reiterated four main targets and affirmed that regime change is not a primary objective, while not ruling out the possibility that the U.S. carried out the attack on an Iranian girls’ primary school.
Leavitt stated that the U.S. aims to destroy Iran’s ballistic missile program, "sweep" Iranian naval forces in the region, dismantle Iran’s terrorist proxy networks, and prevent nuclear weapons development. She emphasized that changing the regime is not currently a primary goal.
She added that President Donald Trump’s decision to strike Iran was driven by a "good feeling" based on intelligence indicating that the Iranian government was planning attacks against the U.S.
The White House spokesperson did not dismiss the possibility that the U.S. might have been responsible for striking the all-girls primary school in southern Iran, which has resulted in over 170 deaths. However, she insisted that the U.S. military did not intend to target civilians.
Leavitt also said the U.S. possesses "more than enough" weapons to sustain a prolonged war with Iran, despite earlier signals from Trump that the arsenal might not be as large as desired. She stated the U.S. would be able to gain "complete and total" air superiority over Iran within a few hours.
