Chaos erupted in the U.S. Capitol building after a man stood up to interrupt a session to protest the war in Iran. He was forcibly detained and dragged out of the hearing room by police, resulting in a broken arm.
Senator Tim Kaine from Montana, a Republican, revealed that he helped officers remove the protester, who was uncontrollable, from the Armed Services Committee hearing.
The man involved was identified as Brian McGinnis, who described himself as a U.S. Marine veteran and a Green Party candidate running for the North Carolina Senate seat.
In another video clip released online, McGinnis shouted, "Americans don't want to send their children to fight Israel's wars."
Afterward, Capitol police attempted to escort him out of the meeting room, and McGinnis appeared to resist near the exit before Senator Kaine stepped in to help manage the situation.
While officers tried to drag him out, McGinnis's left hand became caught between the door and the frame. A sound resembling a bone breaking was heard in the clip, and footage suggested his arm may have been broken during the scuffle. Following the incident, activist group Code Pink confirmed McGinnis's arm was indeed broken in the confrontation with officers.
