Trump Claims Iran Tried to Contact U.S. Seeking War-End Agreement

Donald Trump claimed that Iranian officials contacted him hoping to negotiate an agreement to end the war, but he countered by saying the U.S. is now more willing to fight than Iran is.

On 5 Mar 2026 GMT+7, U.S. President Donald Trump said that Iranian authorities reached out hoping to make an agreement to end the war, but he insisted it was too late and that the U.S. is pushing to completely destroy Iran.

“They are calling. They ask, ‘How can we make a deal?’” Trump said at the White House. “I replied, ‘You’re a bit late, and right now we want to fight more than you do.’”

Meanwhile, on Wednesday (4 Mar), U.S. media reported that Iranian intelligence signaled it might be ready to open talks on ending the war, but U.S. officials stated no negotiations have occurred yet and that a ‘solution’ is unlikely in the near term.

The statement came as Trump celebrated U.S. progress, affirming that “The U.S. military, along with our excellent ally Israel, continues to obliterate the enemy faster than scheduled and at a level never seen before.”

The U.S. leader told ABC News later that Iran is so devastated it will take them about 10 years to recover.

Additionally, Trump urged Iranian diplomats worldwide to seek asylum, saying, “We call on Iranian diplomats around the world to apply for asylum and help us build a new, better Iran with great potential,” at an event.
