Iranian Leader Apologizes to Neighboring Countries, Vows No Attacks Unless Attacked First

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, speaking on state television, apologized to neighboring countries affected by the war and announced Iran will stop attacking unless first attacked. Meanwhile, Qatar revealed it intercepted one missile.

On 7 Mar 2026 GMT+7, President Masoud Pezeshkian addressed a video broadcast on state television, expressing regret and apologizing to neighboring countries impacted by the regional conflict.

The Iranian leader stated that Iran will cease attacks on neighboring countries and will not take military action against any nation unless first attacked. Pezeshkian also emphasized Iran will continue to fight to defend the country, adding that Iran’s enemies should take their hopes of seeing Iranians surrender to their graves.

Previously, several Gulf countries hosting U.S. bases confirmed they have not allowed use of their bases to launch attacks on Iran. Reports also indicated that many regional countries tried to persuade the U.S. not to start airstrike operations against Iran initially.
