
The death toll from US and Israeli attacks in Iran has increased to at least 1,348. In addition, the attacks have spread across 28 provinces, although the primary targets remain Tehran and western Iran.
On 17 Mar 2026 GMT+7, the Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), a US-based activist group, reported that civilian deaths in Iran due to US and Israeli attacks since last Saturday had risen to 1,172 as of Friday.
HRANA stated that among the casualties were as many as 194 children. Beyond civilian deaths, HRANA also reported 176 military personnel killed.
HRANA revealed that within 24 hours up to 17:00 Eastern Time (ET) on Friday, there were at least 664 attacks in 136 incidents across 28 provinces. This latest wave of attacks is considered many times more severe than previous days and has spread throughout the country, though the main targets remain Tehran and western Iran.
HRANA added that some sites protected under international humanitarian law were damaged between Thursday and Friday evening, including centers of the Red Crescent Society, three residential buildings in Tehran, and the Iranian National Oil Company (NIOC) building.
