Saudi Arabia Reports 2 Dead, Dozens Injured After Missile Hits Residential Area

Saudi Arabia has reported its first fatalities since the war between the United States, Israel, and Iran erupted, after a missile struck a residential building, causing 2 deaths and injuring more than a dozen others.

On 8 March 2026, Saudi Arabia's Civil Defense Office stated that a missile hit a residential area in the city of Al-Kharj, located about 107 kilometers southeast of Riyadh, resulting in 2 deaths and 12 injuries.

This marks the first time Saudi Arabia has reported fatalities within its borders since the United States and Israel launched attacks on Iran on 28 February. The two deceased were Indian and Bangladeshi nationals, while all 12 injured were Bangladeshi.

The Civil Defense Office said that emergency teams inspected the site on Sunday after the missile struck the housing of employees at a maintenance and cleaning company. The statement did not specify which party fired the missile.

However, according to Iran's state broadcaster IRIB, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated Sunday morning that they targeted radar systems at multiple locations, including the city of Al-Kharj.

Al-Kharj is located near Prince Sultan Air Base, Saudi Arabia’s main air force base, situated southeast of Riyadh. This base has been a continuous target of Iranian attacks over recent days.
