Israel has launched a new round of attacks on Lebanon's capital, claiming to have killed several commanders of Iran's Quds Force, while Lebanon reports that the death toll from Israeli strikes has surged to nearly 400.
On 8 Mar 2026 GMT+7, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) revealed they carried out new airstrikes in Beirut, Lebanon, killing several senior commanders of the "Quds" Force, a combat unit within Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
In a statement on Sunday, the IDF said the strikes targeted five commanders from the Lebanon Corps and Palestine Corps units of the Quds Force, who were reportedly meeting at a hotel in Lebanon's capital city.
According to the IDF, the Lebanon unit of the Quds Force serves as the main coordinator between Hezbollah and Iran.
Meanwhile, Lebanese authorities reported that the attack, which struck a hotel room in central Beirut at dawn, resulted in four deaths and ten injuries, though the identities of the deceased have not been confirmed.
Separately, Rakan Nassereddine, Lebanon's Minister of Health, said at a press conference on Sunday that the death toll from Israeli attacks since the U.S. and Israeli government began striking Iran on 28 Feb has risen to 394.
Nassereddine stated that among the fatalities were 83 children and 42 women, including nine rescue workers who died during the attacks.
The death toll in Lebanon has rapidly increased from Saturday, when the Minister of Health reported the figure at 294.
