U.S. officials revealed that the United States has already expended over 176 billion baht worth of military equipment within just the first two days of its war with Iran, causing concern in the U.S. Congress.
CNN reported on 10 Mar 2026, citing two sources familiar with the assessment presented by the U.S. Department of Defense to Congress last Monday, stating that the U.S. military has used more than 5.6 billion U.S. dollars (approximately 176 billion baht) worth of weapons in only the first two days of the war with Iran.
This enormous sum is causing significant concern in the legislature due to the rapid depletion of advanced U.S. weapon systems, including extensive use of long-range precision-guided munitions heavily deployed in the early days of the conflict.
Senator Mark Kelly of Arizona, a Democrat, stated that the U.S. and its allies are using vast numbers of air defense missiles to intercept Iranian ballistic missiles and drones, while Tehran itself maintains a “massive arsenal” in reserve.
Kelly also mentioned that senators will continue to question the reporters in a closed meeting today about the “daily cost” the U.S. must bear from this war.
Several congressional sources told CNN that the ongoing war means the government may soon need to request “additional funding” from Congress to accelerate the production of military equipment, with one congressional official saying, “That will be the next big battle [in Congress].”
