The European Union is providing €100 million in aid to Lebanon following intense Israeli attacks, with the official number of displaced persons now reaching 800,000.
On 11 Mar 2026 GMT+7, the European Union (EU) announced a €100 million aid package for Lebanon to address the humanitarian crisis caused by the conflict involving the US-Israel coalition and Iran. This war has resulted in hundreds of deaths in Lebanon over the past week and displaced many people.
Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, said the EU delivered more than 40 tons of relief supplies to Lebanon last Tuesday and plans to arrange additional humanitarian aid flights.
Lebanese officials reported that over 800,000 people have become internally displaced. However, Adel Nassar, Lebanon's Minister of Justice, noted that this figure only counts those who registered voluntarily, so the actual number is likely much higher.
“The situation is very difficult due to limited resources. Nonetheless, despite all these challenges, the government is mobilizing fully to meet the needs of the people as much as possible,” said Nassar.
Previously, Tom Fletcher, head of humanitarian affairs at the UN, warned that Lebanon and the region are facing a "serious moment of danger."
Meanwhile, Lebanon's Disaster Risk Management Office reported at least 634 deaths since Israel escalated attacks on Lebanon last week.
