UN Security Council Passes Resolution Condemning Iran, Calls for Halt to Attacks on Persian Gulf Nations

The United Nations Security Council passed a resolution condemning Iran for attacks on Persian Gulf countries and urged Iran to stop these attacks immediately, but did not mention attacks by the US and Israel at all.

On 11 Mar 2026 GMT+7, the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) voted to approve a draft resolution condemning Iran for attacking Persian Gulf countries and Jordan, while calling on Iran to immediately cease these attacks.

The draft resolution was presented by the Persian Gulf group of countries and supported by over 130 nations. The resolution received 13 affirmative votes from permanent member states, while Russia and China abstained.

The draft states: “We strongly condemn the severe attacks” against Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Jordan, and calls on Iran to immediately end all attacks and threats, including those carried out through various proxy groups.

Additionally, the resolution condemns any actions by Tehran’s government that involve blocking or obstructing international navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global strategic route.

However, the draft resolution makes no mention of the airstrikes conducted by the United States and Israel against Iran.
