Trump Claims Victory in War with Iran, Reveals Origin of Operation Epic Fury Name

U.S. President Donald Trump claimed, "We have won" the war with Iran without providing supporting evidence, and revealed the origin of the operation name Epic Fury.

On 11 Mar 2026 GMT+7, U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that the United States had won the war with Iran, without offering concrete evidence to support this claim, while fighting in the Middle East continued.

"Let me just say that we have won. You know, normally we don't want to say we've won too soon, but we have won. We won. It was over from the first hour, but the bottom line is we won," President Trump said before supporters in Kentucky.

It remains unclear when the U.S. attacks in Iran will end. Over the past two weeks, Trump has given uncertain and contradictory statements about the war's duration, at times saying the war was progressing much faster than expected, other times predicting it would last four to six weeks, and sometimes saying, "We have won... but not enough yet."

The U.S. president has also described the attacks as both a "war" and a "short journey" at the same time.

At the same event, Trump told the crowd about the origin of the operation name "Epic Fury": "They sent me about 20 names to choose from. I was almost falling asleep because I didn’t like any of them. Then I saw the name Epic Fury and said, 'I like this one.'"

On Wednesday, President Donald Trump endorsed an international agreement to release crude oil from reserves, saying this measure would help keep energy prices at reasonable levels amid the war between the U.S. and Iran.

Earlier, in an interview with local media, Trump signaled that the U.S. would draw from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) to address oil supply disruptions caused by the suspension of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.

However, the White House has not yet responded to questions about whether this action will be part of the International Energy Agency (IEA) agreement or a separate U.S. initiative.
