Thailand's Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Iranian ambassador in Thailand to provide clarification regarding the tensions and the attack on cargo vessels in the Middle East region.
The Thai government called in the Iranian ambassador for clarification after a Thai cargo ship was attacked by an unidentified object near the Strait of Hormuz last Wednesday. Thai authorities stated that three Thai crew members remain missing following an explosion on the vessel.
Officials believe the three missing crew members were working in the engine room, where the fire broke out after the blast. Meanwhile, 20 crew members were rescued after evacuating the ship in lifeboats in time.
The attacked vessel is the Thai-flagged cargo ship named "Mayuree Naree," one of six ships targeted by projectiles or attacks near key shipping routes over the past two days.
This summons took place following multiple attacks on ships in the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf area in recent days.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most important maritime routes for energy and goods transport. The recent attacks on multiple ships have heightened concerns over maritime security in the Middle East, with many countries closely monitoring the situation.
