Trump Claims U.S. Military Strikes Iranian Oil Hub Kharg Island, Warns of Further Action if Strait of Hormuz Blocked

Donald Trump stated that the U.S. military has launched strikes on all military targets on Kharg Island, Iran's central oil export hub, and warned of possible attacks on oil infrastructure if Iran continues to block ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz.

Donald Trump, the U.S. president, revealed that the U.S. military conducted a major airstrike on all military targets on Iran's Kharg Island, declaring that every military target was completely destroyed.

Trump posted on the Truth Social platform that the strikes were carried out by the U.S. Central Command and described it as one of the most powerful bombing operations in Middle Eastern history.

However, the U.S. leader emphasized that the military has not yet targeted the island's oil infrastructure, despite having the capability, explaining that this was a deliberate and appropriate decision.

Trump warned that if Iran continues to obstruct shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, the U.S. might consider attacking Kharg Island's energy infrastructure in the future.

Kharg Island is about five miles off Iran's coast and serves as a critical center for the country's oil industry, handling approximately 90% of Iran's crude oil exports.

Previously, the island was largely unaffected by attacks during the first two weeks of the conflict between the U.S. and Israel against Iran.

A U.S. official confirmed to CNN that the U.S. military conducted a major strike on Kharg Island but has not yet verified that all military targets were destroyed as Trump claimed.

Security experts believe that a full-scale seizure or attack on Kharg Island would require substantial ground forces, something the Trump administration remains hesitant to pursue.

Earlier, Trump refused to answer questions about striking Kharg Island during an interview with a Fox News host, calling the question inappropriate and stating that decisions could change at any time.

This situation heightens regional tensions, as attacking Iran's energy infrastructure could directly impact the global oil market and the critical shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most important maritime passages.
