Hamas in the Gaza Strip has called on Iran, their main ally, to stop attacking neighboring countries, stressing the need to preserve fraternal relations but still supporting Iran's right to self-defense.
On 14 Mar 2026 GMT+7, the Palestinian armed group Hamas, which has long governed the Gaza Strip, called on Iran, its key ally, to cease attacks on countries in the Arab Gulf amid ongoing Middle East conflict, as the U.S. and Israel continue strikes against Iran.
Hamas, supported by the Tehran government, said they are following the regional war with "great concern" and urged "brothers in Iran to avoid targeting neighboring countries," adding in a statement that all countries in the region should cooperate "to preserve bonds of brotherhood."
Hamas reaffirmed Iran's right to defend itself from U.S. and Israeli attacks, and called on "all states and international organizations to jointly push for an immediate end to the war."
Iranian authorities stated their retaliatory attacks are aimed at "American bases and installations" on the Arab Gulf mainland, not directly targeting neighboring countries. However, many strikes have directly affected civilian infrastructure.
So far, at least 18 people have died across the region, mostly security personnel or foreign workers, with six deaths reported in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), six in Kuwait, and two each in Oman, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain.
Iran is the largest supporter of Hamas, providing funding, weapons, and political backing. However, Hamas also receives financial and political support from Turkey and Qatar, both of which have recently been targeted by Iranian attacks.
