Israel Reveals Plans to Continue Attacks on Iran for at Least Another Three Weeks

Israel has revealed plans to continue attacking Iran for at least another three weeks because there are still thousands of targets remaining to destroy Iran's military infrastructure.

On 15 Mar 2026 GMT+7, Brigadier General Effi Deferin, spokesperson for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), told CNN that the Israeli military plans to continue its operations against Iran for at least three more weeks, as there remain “thousands of targets” still to be struck.

“We still have thousands of targets ahead,” Brigadier General Deferin said. “We are prepared and coordinated with allies such as the United States, with plans extending at least until the Jewish Passover festival, which arrives in about three weeks, and we have even more sophisticated plans for the three weeks following that.”

According to IDF data, since the campaign against Iran began on 28 February, the Israeli Air Force has conducted about 400 strikes in western and central Iran, focusing on destroying infrastructure and targeting personnel in Iran's attack, defense, and production units.

Israeli officials say the United States and Israel have already targeted thousands of sites since the war began.

Brigadier General Deferin told CNN, “The IDF does not operate on timing or schedules but works to achieve our objective, which is to severely weaken the Iranian regime’s power.”

He stated that the intense bombardment of Iran by the U.S. and Israel has pushed Hezbollah in Lebanon to decide to join the conflict, unlike during the 12-day war last summer when they chose to stay out of it.

“In June, they understood it was a limited operation against Iran, so they did not attack. But now that it has become a full-scale war, they have decided to get involved,” Deferin explained.

According to Israeli officials, Israeli military operations in Lebanon may continue even after the war in Iran ends. Currently, the IDF is increasing troop deployments to the northern border to try to secure territory and push Hezbollah forces back.
