Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed that his country has never requested the United States to cease fire, nor has it ever asked to negotiate, contradicting assertions made by President Donald Trump.
On 15 Mar 2026 GMT+7, Abbas Araghchi, Iran's Minister of Foreign Affairs, told the US television station CBS News that the Tehran government has never asked the United States to stop its attacks, nor has it ever sought negotiations.
Araghchi’s remarks came after US President Donald Trump stated that Iran wanted to make a deal, but he refused because “the conditions were not good enough.”
However, Araghchi emphasized on CBS News' Face the Nation, “We see no reason to talk with the Americans because we are already in communication with them when they decided to launch attacks against us.”
“This is a war chosen by President Trump and the United States, and we will continue to defend ourselves,” Araghchi said.
