Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip have killed at least 13 Palestinians, including two children and a pregnant woman, while more than 20,000 patients are still awaiting evacuation through the Rafah crossing.
On 16 Mar 2026 GMT+7, a new round of Israeli airstrikes began in the Gaza Strip on Sunday, resulting in at least 13 deaths. Among the dead were two boys, one pregnant woman, and nine police officers.
Reports indicate one strike targeted a house in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, killing four people: a married couple in their 30s and their 10-year-old son. Al-Aqsa Hospital confirmed the deceased woman was pregnant with twins. Additionally, a 15-year-old neighbor also died and was taken to Al-Awda Hospital.
Mahmoud Al-Muhtaseb, a local neighbor, said the family was asleep when the missile strike woke them with a powerful explosion. He said, “We were sleeping when suddenly there was a missile attack. It was very intense and there was no prior warning.”
Gaza's Interior Ministry stated the attack killed nine police officers, including Colonel Iyad Abu Yusuf, a senior local police official. Hospitals in Al-Aqsa city confirmed these figures and reported at least 14 injuries.
