Donald Trump posted a message attacking NATO and their Asian allies for refusing to send warships to escort the Strait of Hormuz, and declared that the U.S. does not need help from anyone.
On 17 Mar 2026 GMT+7, Donald Trump posted a message on Truth Social criticizing NATO allies, including those in Asia, for rejecting his request to send warships to escort the Strait of Hormuz. However, Trump insisted that the U.S. does not need help from anyone because it is the strongest country in the world.
Trump's message stated, “The U.S. has been informed by most of our 'allies' in NATO that they do not want to get involved in our military operations against Iran's terrorist regime in the Middle East, even though in reality, almost every country strongly agrees with what we are doing and agrees that we must never allow Iran to have nuclear weapons by any means, form, or method.”
“But I am not surprised by their actions because I have always regarded NATO as a ‘one-way street’ (a one-sided beneficiary) for which we pay hundreds of billions of dollars annually to protect those countries, yet they do nothing for us, especially in times of need.”
“Fortunately, we have already destroyed Iran’s military completely. Their navy is gone, their air force is gone, their air defense and radar systems are gone, and most importantly, their leaders at nearly every level have disappeared and will never threaten us, our Middle Eastern allies, or the world again!”
“Because of this overwhelming military success, we ‘do not want’ or desire help from NATO countries anymore, although honestly, we never really needed it! The same goes for Japan, Australia, or South Korea. Speaking as the President of the United States, the most powerful country in the world by far,” “we do not need help from anyone!” “Thank you for your attention on this matter. President Donald J. Trump.”
