Zelensky revealed that more than 200 Ukrainian drone experts are currently assisting various countries in the Middle East with intercepting Iranian drones.
On 17 Mar 2026 GMT+7, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the UK Parliament during his visit to the United Kingdom on Tuesday, stating that currently 200 Ukrainian air defense experts are in the Middle East to help counter Iranian drone attacks.
Zelensky stated that drones, especially inexpensive attack drones, have completely transformed the face of modern warfare.
The Ukrainian president gave an example of this change, pointing out that while each Iranian drone costs about 50,000 US dollars (around 1.6 million baht), the US and its allies must use missiles worth approximately 4 million US dollars (about 129 million baht) to shoot them down.
Ukraine has faced continuous combined drone and missile attacks after Russia accelerated production of the "Shahed" drones, designed by Iran, earlier this year.
Due to shortages of standard air defense weapons supplied by Western countries, the Kyiv government has been forced to adapt and develop multi-layered defense systems, including electronic warfare tools, helicopters, and modified transport aircraft to chase drones mid-air, as well as ground forces using heavy machine guns and surface-to-air missiles to shoot down drones.
Zelensky offered to share Ukraine's developments, noting that his country can produce about 2,000 interceptor drones daily and stated that Kyiv can allocate half of the drones produced to its allies.
