Iranian authorities claim that an enemy attack object, unspecified in nature, fell within the area of a nuclear power plant but fortunately caused no damage or injuries.
On 18 Mar 2026, the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran stated that an "enemy attack object" fell within the area of the Bushehr nuclear power plant in western Iran on Tuesday (17 Mar), but no one was injured or killed, and there was no damage to the operational buildings.
In a statement released by Iranian media, the organization said the country's nuclear safety center confirmed the incident and found it caused "no property, technical, or human harm," adding that "no part of the plant was damaged."
The organization also said the attack object fell within the plant area at about 19:00 local time but did not specify which country was behind the attack.
"Such an attack constitutes a violation of all international regulations regarding the protection of nuclear facilities from military attacks and could cause irreparable effects on the entire region, including countries bordering the Persian Gulf," the statement said.
So far, the U.S. and Israel, which have repeatedly attacked Iran, have not commented on the Iranian authorities' claims.
