Wild Possum Camouflages as a Stuffed Toy at Australian Airport

An unexpected event took place at an Australian airport when a wild possum was found camouflaging perfectly among stuffed animals inside a souvenir shop at Hobart Airport.

Internet users widely shared the charming story of a wild possum that cleverly hid among fluffy stuffed animal friends displayed on the souvenir shelves at the Australian airport.

The souvenir shop manager said in an interview that this was a very cute incident where the possum blended seamlessly with kangaroo and bear stuffed toys on the shelves. He added that this confirmed how lifelike the stuffed animals they sell are, to the point that when a real possum hid among them, they nearly couldn’t tell the difference.

He also said they were very happy to see a special guest who was a real wild animal visit their airport shop, and they look forward to welcoming new animal friends to their store.

However, after discovering the possum hiding there, airport officials promptly removed it from the airport premises to ensure the safety of both the possum and all passengers.

Airport staff remarked that they were very glad to have provided a warm refuge for the possum during this visit.

Possums are adorable marsupial mammals that resemble large rats and have a pouch like kangaroos to carry their young. A peculiar behavior of wild possums is that they often play dead when they sense danger, remaining completely still with their mouths open, frothing at the mouth, and releasing a foul odor as if dead until predators lose interest.
