Iran Confirms IRGC Spokesperson Killed in Joint US-Israel Attack

Iran confirms that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) spokesperson was killed in a joint US-Israel attack, marking the latest in a series of targeted assassinations of Iranian leadership.

On 20 March 2026 GMT+7, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps revealed that 68-year-old spokesperson Ali Mohammad Nayini was killed in a joint US-Israel airstrike early Friday morning, just hours after he appeared on television affirming Iran's continued missile production capabilities despite wartime conditions.

Earlier, Nayini stated in an interview that Iran's missile industry remains fully operational and is not cause for concern even under attack.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that Iran can no longer develop nuclear weapons or missiles, while the Israeli military confirmed it is continuing its strikes targeting locations in Tehran.

Nayini's death is among a series of assassinations of senior Iranian officials occurring within less than three weeks since the war began on 28 February. Previously, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed early in the operation and succeeded by Mojtaba Khamenei.
